The marketing for every other chicken feed brand in the category was focused on chickens. So we focused on the real reason parents with young kids raise these backyard animals: for the healthy, wholesome activity it provides the whole family. This was a full-funnel campaign designed to drive conversion at retail (both in-store and online). And the budget was minimal, so we used cute illustrations to add family-friendly personality to existing stock photography. Post-campaign research showed an incredible 77% brand recall, which is an enormous accomplishment for a lesser-known brand competing for mindshare against huge competitors like Purina.
